Optimal PMU Placement Using Genetic Algorithm for 330kV 52-Bus Nigerian Network

The phasor Measurement Unit is a modern tracking tool mounted on network to track and manage power systems. PMU accurate and time-synchronized device that gives voltage measurements in nodes current connected to those where the installed. This study introduces Genetic Algorithm for optimization of allocation PMUs enable maximum observation network. The optimal placement (OPP) problem developed minimize quantity PMU to be placed. set optimized model can efficiently position any network, considering regular operation zero injection (ZIN). Thus, algorithm implemented IEEE 14-bus systems, result was compared existing works which achieved same system redundancy index. As further study, proposed approach applied Nigerian 330kV new 52-bus under operational arrangements for observability system. technique formulated to handle normal node succeeded producing comparable results with other available techniques.
